Defining Bullying
There are many ideas in our state and community as to a solid definition of bullying. The legislature has taken steps to assist, by writing a definition into the law. This makes it much more likely that incidents will be treated in about the same way without regard to the location where the bullying occurs.
Sec 15. KSA 2012 Supp 72-8256(a)(1)(A) reads as follows: "Bullying" means: Any intentional gesture or any intentional written, verbal, electronic or physical act or threat that is sufficiently severe, persistent or pervasive that such gesture, act, or threat creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment.
USD 343 abides by all provisions of state law.
