Vehicle Accident
In any given day, there are cars, trucks, vans, and buses operating throughout the district. It is the district's goal to end the year with a perfect vehicular safety record.
Bus accident
Drivers are trained in proper procedures to follow in case of a collision involving a district school bus. They will decide whether to evacuate passengers or to hold them on the vehicle until help arrives. They will always notify the duty administrator as soon as possible.
A district administrator will notify parents/guardians/emergency contacts of students on the vehicle of the situation by telephone.
A police report will always be filed. It is probable that law enforcement will be called to the scene.
Van accident

Parking lot accident
Any time that a vehicle makes physical contact with another vehicle or with a pedestrian on USD 343 property during the school day or at an event sponsored by the district, it will be treated as a "parking lot accident".
Building administrators will be notified immediately and police reports will be filed in case of an injury.
The duty administrator will call parents/guardians/emergency contacts of any students involved and inform them of the situation.
Accident involving work vehicles owned by the district
Any accident involving a work vehicle will be reported to the Superintendent and the appropriate supervisor (Director of Maintenance or Director of Transportation) immediately.
