Emergency Evacuations
Board Policy EBBD states:
If there is a bomb threat or similar emergency, the principal shall see that students are escorted to a safe place.
The principal shall notify law enforcement agencies of the threat and request a thorough inspection of the buildings and grounds. If it is determined that no danger exists to students' safety and if there is time remaining in the school day, school shall be resumed.
Implementation of the policy:
Each building has a designated "safe location" to which students are evacuated while the building is being inspected by first responders.
In the event that students will not be able to reenter the school building before dismissal, parents/guardians/emergency contacts will be notified of alternate plans by telephone at the numbers provided to the Broadcast Calling system.
